AUSTAFE is committed to promoting excellence in Vocational Education and Training and was established as the AATP (Australian Association of TAFE Principals) in 1980, which became AUSTAFE in 1990. The primary mission of AUSTAFE is to provide national leadership in support of its members and indirectly the TAFE systems they represent. Success of the association is measured through its ability to achieve government, industry and community recognition, act as an advocate, develop linkages and serve as a resource to help members and their institutions provide excellent post-secondary education opportunities. This conference provides an opportunity for TAFE and vocational education and training managers across Australia to come together to develop their capability in leadership and innovation, discuss current and future issues impacting on the vocational education and training enviornment and celebrate TAFE achievements. The conference theme is '20:20 Vision' and it will explore the impact of future changes for the VET and tertiary sectors in Australia with a range of national speakers. With themes focusing on leadership, challenges and future direction for training, this year's conference is one not to be missed. The program is exciting with inspiring and thought provoking speakers guaranteed to provide you with innovative strategies for you in your professional practice. Attendance at the AUSTAFE 2011 Conference also offers the unique opportunity to attend the joint dinner function with TAFE Directors of Australia (TDA) at the National Press Club on Wednesday, 12 October 2011 to hear from the nation's political leaders on the vision and role of education in modern Australia. This year, two pre - conference workshops will be available on Wednesday, 12 October 2011 in the afternoon to explore innovative teaching practices at the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT).
